Our News > Australia,
2003
In January 2003, after a great time visiting with friends and family,
we decided to take a road trip and show Theresa a bit of the Outback -
camping out in mid-summer! One thing we could be sure of - the campgrounds
would not be too crowded...

En route to Mungo National Park, in far western New
South Wales...

Mungo National Park...

Where there was a kangaroo under every bush...

Mutawintji National Park, and another crowded campground...

Approaching the opal mining town of White Cliffs...

Where solar is the local source of power...

And many people choose to live underground to escape
the heat.
(It was 43 degrees C when we were there - in the shade!)
Overall, hot, but worth it for a great trip. A wonderful
chance to
connect with the beauty and solitude that is Outback Australia.
